Installation on Debian-family systems

Install the repository:

$ sudo apt-get install -y ca-certificates wget
$ sudo wget https://repo.pstreamer.tv/pub/pstreamer-archive-keyring.gpg -O /usr/share/keyrings/pstreamer-archive-keyring.gpg
$ sudo wget https://repo.pstreamer.tv/pub/deb/dists/pstreamer/pstreamer2.list -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pstreamer2.list
$ sudo apt-get update

The first command installs the root certificates and wget: without them, downloads over HTTPS fail on a minimal system, wget leaves empty files, and apt-get finds no package. The second command installs the key the repository is signed with, the third adds the repository itself; it works over HTTPS. The key fingerprint:

E391 9454 BFD9 DEA4 6CDE C886 5BDD 7AE6 BEB5 D084

Note

A system on which the repository was added earlier, over HTTP and without a key, keeps working, but apt-get update may print the warning NO_PUBKEY 5BDD7AE6BEB5D084. To remove it, run the two wget commands of the list above: they install the key and replace the repository file with the new one.

Note

This is the repository for version 2.x; it is separate from the version 1.x repository. When moving from version 1.x, first remove the previous file /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pstreamer.list — otherwise both repositories stay enabled on the system.

Install the package:

$ sudo apt-get install pstreamer

The demo edition is installed from the same repository: the pstreamer-demo package (Demo edition).

Update the package:

$ sudo apt install pstreamer

After installation

After installing Perfect Streamer, activate the service and configure its initial settings.

Warning

The pstreamer package requires aksusbd version 10.33 or newer. The protection service is in the same repository, so the package manager pulls it in by itself — no separate step is needed. If, however, the package is installed from a file, bypassing the repository, the installation will stop at dependency resolution until the required version of the service is installed by hand.

Upgrading the protection service is a one-way step, and it does not depend on the type of key. The package places generation 10.33 vendor libraries in /var/hasplm, and the previous service does not accept such a library: the licence manager refuses to load it and terminates abnormally. Going back to the previous service without rolling back the whole package as well is therefore not possible. Plan this step as a transition, not as a routine update.

Remove all packages:

$ sudo apt-get remove pstreamer aksusbd
